- Remove the VacPort from the Wall:
- Open the VacPort door to access the two screws holding it in place.
- Remove these screws, then gently pull the VacPort out from the wall.
- Inspect the Steel Rod and Magnets:
- When the VacPort door opens, a steel rod should make contact with the magnets. Refer to the accompanying photo for clarification.
- If the steel rod does not make contact with the magnets:
- Check for debris preventing the door from closing fully.
- Clean the debris, then test the VacPort. If it operates normally, reinstall the VacPort.
- If cleaning does not resolve the issue:
- Remove the two screws securing the circuit board of the VacPort.
- Inspect and carefully clean the contact points on the circuit board where the steel rod makes contact.
- Clean the steel rod itself, reassemble the VacPort, and test its operation.
- Test the Wiring to the Vacuum:
- Disconnect the two yellow wires from the VacPort that lead back to the vacuum system. (These wires are typically low-voltage, safe to handle, and may consist of a 22-gauge black and red wire enclosed in white or gray insulation.)
- Touch the two disconnected wires together:
- If the vacuum turns on:
- The VacPort circuit board, connection points, or debris in the VacPort is causing the issue. Contact InterVac for further assistance.
- If the vacuum does not turn on:
- Proceed to the next step.
- If the vacuum turns on:
- Inspect the Wiring to the Vacuum Cleaner:
- Trace the wires back to the vacuum cleaner and inspect them for damage or disconnections.
- If the wires are damaged or disconnected:
- Replace or reconnect the wires to the vacuum cleaner. Test the VacPort operation after repairs and reinstall everything.
- If the wires are intact and connected:
- Proceed to the next step.
- Contact InterVac for Further Assistance:
- If the vacuum system still does not work after completing the above steps, reach out to InterVac Design Corp. for additional troubleshooting support.
